At its core, the VPL-VW5000ES uses three 0.74-inch SXRD panels to deliver native 4K resolution at 4096 × 2160 pixels—over 26 million pixels on screen without artificial enhancement. The Z-Phosphor laser light source produces a full 5000 lumens of brightness, so the picture remains crisp and vivid even in rooms that are not fully light-controlled. The laser is rated for up to 20,000 hours of maintenance-free operation. No lamp replacements. No downtime.
Sony equipped this projector with dual contrast control: dynamic laser output combined with a physical Advanced Iris, independently adjustable to optimize both dark scenes and bright highlights in real time. The color performance covers the full DCI-P3 color gamut used in professional cinema, with the ability to emulate the wider BT.2020 color space. HDR content is fully supported in both HDR10 and HLG formats, and Motionflow processing keeps fast action smooth and clear.
